PSL envy

Well folks, not only is the UK behind in (most) film release dates...I think they're behind in seasonal liquid degustation supply.

Thanks to Hot Toddy (and friends), I've just discovered that Starbucks makes something called a "Pumpkin Spice Latte", which I already know I love, despite the fact that I've never tasted it. (See, I'm new to the latte club...and since I used to be a faithful member of the mocha club, I never even registered names of anything ending in "...latte" before.)

Now, I'm not sure if the Marketing folks on this side of the pond are purposefully remiss on this front, because even though they don't go for the whole "Thanksgiving" thing over here, it's still AUTUMN...and aren't pumpkins part of the general feel of the season despite the lack of Pilgrims and Indians dotting the decorative landscape? I certainly would have thought so.

I suppose I can live without the PSL, but his whole thing is already making me nervous that they may forego my beloved Peppermint Mocha come Christmas-time. (Note: that's peppermint, folks...NOT just mint, as the former is made with peppermint syrup and the latter with crème de menthesyrupm - huge difference.)

Good thing I'll be home for Christmas. If I can't get the P-Mocha here, I'll be able to get my fix at home, and it will just make the trip all the more sentimental.

Mmmmm yes. I have been enjoying my Pumpkin Spice Fraps for a while now. Has only been cool enough once for me to go for the latte, but it is yummy too. I likes the peppermint stuff too.....oh and the gingerbread. I am a Starbucks whore.

Pumpkins are native to North America...maybe the Brits turn up their noses at pumpkin.

Dovie, I can totally relate to your peppermint mocha addiction. That is my favorite drink at Starby's. I can always tell the difference when the barista uses mint instead of peppermint. It has a completely different taste. Blech.

Laurie, by "tell the difference" you DO mean "taste the bleh and ask the barista to make me a proper PEPPERMINT one", right?

"A proper peppermint one"

That made me laugh. It's so very British. Dovie, that is exactly what I should do; however, I am usually already out of the building by the time I taste my coffee and realize they used the icky mint syrup.

Though it's completely out of character, I drank a pumpkin spice latte today, and now I know why. For your proverbial record, it was ehhh.

I would be remiss if I didn't point out that this is the week of The Pumpkin Show in beautiful Circleville, Ohio. I used to go to that when I was a kiddo and lived nearby. They'd love your Pumpkin Latte in Circleville. Even the water tower was painted to look like a pumpkin.

Hmm. PSL- not on my "must try" list... though it may be good.

Question for the Grinder: How does one become a "Starbucks Whore" because it would seem to me that would imply that they are paying you; perhaps it would be more proper to say that you are a "Starbucks John", but then I don't really know anything about that line of work- except what I learned on TV. Honest.

Oh memories - Dove do you remember California, UNO cards, and peppermint mochas. Oh wait that might be a bitter memory because of the Rose Bowl thing - never mind cheers - Pumpkin Lattes Rule!

PSL is great. I had my first one of the season this weekend. Can't wait for the gingerbread latte to come out Nov 9th. I actually asked the lady at starbucks if there was a call list for when they arrived, but she gave me the Nov 9th date instead. HA!
