music montage

you know how in the movies you'll see some dramatic scene followed by a music montage that shows you all sorts of bits and pieces of "life after the scene" during which the person in the dramatic situation gets her stuff together, recovers from the drama, or goes into a really productive time in life that's not really all that fabulously exciting but is full of that 'good life stuff that just needs to be done'?

yeah, well...i think i'm about to enter a music montage.

i like these moments...er, montages.

in fact, when people ask me how things are going when i'm in one of these seasons, i think i'm going to start saying "i'm in a montage" instead of saying "oh, nothing terribly exciting" because although the bits of the montage aren't exciting in and of themselves - i mean, there's a reason they put all that stuff to music and just show you the highlights - the fact that i'm in a montage actually is exciting.

it's good to hear that things are going so, er, normal. everyone needs a less-than-dramatic period now and again. one question for ya: what's on the soundtrack?

I'm with Dennis. I want to know what music your montage is set to.
(And by "with Dennis" I don't actually mean with Dennis. I only met him, like, twice.)

Yeah we need to know what your montage soundtrack is. Also, you need to invest in some speakers small enough to go in your pocket but loud enough that people will hear them when you walk by. Attach them to your ipod and blast your soundtrack until your montage is over.

Man....I always wanted my own soundtrack.

This is a great post... I also never know what to say about what's going on in my life during those times... so I may steal your line someday. :-)

And I totally love the speakers-in-the-pocket-soundtrack idea!!

If you're taking suggestions as to the playlist for the montage, I think you would have to include something by the Swedish band The Soundtrack of Our Lives, AKA TSOOL.

there's no sense in denying it now, Laurie, now that it's all out in the open on dovie's blog for everyone to see- it is a matter of "proverbial record": doesn't that count for something?
oh well, at least you were with me for a moment...

I didn't know we were actually going public with our relationship, Dennis. I saw you tonight at the Brian Regan show...then I followed you home and sat in my car outside your house and cried over what might have been.

I am now in search of two soundtracks... one for Dovie's montage and the other for the romantic comedy/drama about Laurie and Dennis.

The addition of the two will make my music collection complete.
