today's total: over 2 hours

for a brief few minutes, i thought everything was going my way when the Customer Options lady finally came back and said "ok...i'm going to transfer you now so they can set up an appointment", but that's when things went downhill quickly. i didn't realize she was sending me to the Incompentents, so when she started in on her "can you tell me what lights are showing on your router?" routine and i tried to shut her down, everything fell apart. so, after sitting on hold while Customer Options lady was (supposedly) explaining my situation and about 20 more minutes trying to reason with the Incompetents, it ended up taking 1 hour and 25 minutes to find out BT flat out REFUSE to send a technician to my flat.

additionally, since the only other acceptable outcome today was to cancel the service, i've got to call back the Customer Options people. yeah, you read it right...i have to call them back, because the Incompetents can't transfer me back to customer service. these people WORK FOR THE PHONE COMPANY and they can't transfer a call?

after spending 1 hour and 1 minute while the phone rang endlessly, i have had to hang up because i have to leave the office to make it to a post-work appointment. so i still haven't been able to accomplish the day's objective.

i am so angry i'm not even sure i can form complete sentences. it makes me want to cry. if you read this and you are a praying person...please pray for the people who work for BT and for my own sanity. i'm not kidding.

Oh Dovie...this just sucks. I'm praying for you and your stress over the Incompetents. No wonder we started the Revolution...

I will never again complain about my dealings w/ Time Warner Cable or SWBell or my IT dept again. Well, I can't promise about my IT dept.

Dovie,
sorry for the random post, but you and laurie are keeping me amused whilst working in pakistan in the middle of nowhere. Your BT saga is all too familiar to anyone from the UK, it is some kind of unwritten law that you can only speak to the one person in the whole company who has both halves of their brain intact after spending at least 2hrs on hold or repeating the same information to various different departments. Unfortunately after speaking to them and thinking that everything will now be nice, fluffy and perfect, they will disappear again into the black-hole of the call centre never to be spoken to again. Just be thankful you weren't dealing with ntl (cable company), I have probably spent two whole days of my life on the phone to them, and they don't have such good music.

Instead of paying for T-mobile at *bucks check out : http://www.free-hotspot.com/ . You might even be able to find a local independent coffee shop that has genuine character, real locals and decent coffee, although I know how much a taste of home can be worth.

Nick, glad we provide some free entertainment! And thanks for the link to free hotspots...sadly none are near enough my flat to work into my routine, but i'll be keeping the site for future reference.
